How to get to Tangua Haor?

First, you have to go to Sunamganj district town. Sunamganj can be reached by road from Dhaka. Non AC buses of Shyamoli Paribahan, Hanif Enterprise, Ena Paribahan, Mamun Paribahan go to Sunamganj from Sayedabad. Rent AC 500 to 500 taka. You can go by rickshaw or auto rickshaw from Sunamganj bus stand to Sahebbazar Ghat and charge a maximum fare of Tk 20. Generally, the Tanguar Haor journey starts from Sahebbazar Ghat.

Travel Itinerary

During the rainy season, you can directly go to Tangua by taking an engine boat or a speed boat from Saheb Bari Boat Wharf in the city. It takes 5 hours by engine boat and 2 hours by speed boat. In that case, the engine boat costs 2,500/- to 3,000/- whereas the speed boat costs 7,500/- to 8,000/-. If you rent a boat for an overnight stay, make the necessary purchases. In that case, a local trawler or an engine-driven boat will cost around 5000 rupees. And modified engine powered boats which have many facilities including bathroom with high commode, tarpaulin on the roof, the rent will be like 15-16000 rupees during holidays. On other days you can get it for Tk 10-12000.

Day 1: Travel to Tanguare by Taden’s own ship. First goes to the watch tower. A bird’s eye view of Tanguare Haor from this submerged tower. Here, the water will be choppy. After that, the destination border is surrounded by Teker Ghat. Here is the end of Howrah and the beginning of India. At Tek Ghat we will visit limestone Niladri Lake and Lakma Raha.

Almost ship will be anchored at Tekerghat for an overnight stay.

Day 2: After watching the sunrise from the ship, by 7 am we will depart for Barikka Tila, Shimul Bagan, and the magical river flowing through the mountains. After bathing in Howrah, I will return to Sunamganj in the evening.
